Instrumentation Engineer

INSTRUMENT ENGINEER is required by our Client, an Oil and Gas Operator, to be assigned on Contract basis in Algeria.

ROTATION                28 days ON x 28 days OFF
DURATION                12 months (renewable, long-term)

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ​​​​​​​​Responsibility to assist and support routine instrumentation works, compliance activities and statutory planned and unplanned shutdown works within the central processing facility

  • Site wide support on all I&C systems related to a remote joint venture oil processing facility.

  • Develop and incorporate maintenance procedures for Honeywell EPKS ICSS and SIS systems , including database backups, regular check pointing and associated hardware and software checks.

  • Develop instrumentation preventative maintenance procedures

  • Assist in shutdown execution instrument works as shutdown instrument supervisor

  • Maintenance of Dresser Rand Datum compressors driven by Solar Mars 100, Thomassen Frame 5P and Nuovo Pignone Frame 5 Turbines.

  • Cataloguing of new instrumentation items into CMMS

  • Perform Technical Bid Evaluations for all instrumentation and control equipment and components offered by external vendors during GB procurement process.

  • Maintenance representative for Decree 14-349 Compliance Project, working with 3rd party auditors to ensure that the facility complies with International Best Practice in terms of codes and standards as directed by Algerian Government.

  • Mentoring, assessment, training and developing the competence of Instrument technicians through on-the-job training, classroom lessons, coaching, assessment and feedback.

  • Maintaining technical competence and compliance to GB procedures and HSE standards.

  • Develop maintenance procedures for installed and commissioned Process Control Systems.

  • Provides instrumentation and controls engineering expertise plus consultation and technical guidance to EPIC contractor.

  • Ensure compliance to specifications and documentation of site engineering changes under management of change.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering Degree, ideally in Instruments, Controls or Electrical Engineering

  • At least 8 years’ experience in the maintenance of instrumentation equipment within oil and gas production facilities.

  • Experience working on similar operated producing projects​​​​​​​

  • Previous rotational and international working environment experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team of technical staff, to work with the maintenance department management of an organization, and to manage multiple concurrent project

  • Understanding of ATEX management

  • Understanding of Alarm Management using ISA 18.2 and EEMUA 191

  • Working knowledge of PLC installations including Rockwell, Siemens PSC7 and TIA portal using Step 7, upgrading site wide fire detection system Honeywell/Notifier, SIL allocation and verification and Solar Mars 100 control systems.

  • Working knowledge of IEC 61511 and functional safety.
