Quality Advisor/Engineer
04/08/2025To lead the implementation and assurance of quality standards across all phases of the MBIF project, ensuring construction works are delivered in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and contractual requirements. Acting as the central point of contact for quality within the delivery team, the Quality Engineer supports inspections, audits, and documentation reviews, maintains accurate quality records, and drives continuous improvement through proactive issue resolution, data analysis, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Quality Planning & Documentation
- Support implementation of quality requirements across pre-construction, mobilisation, construction, and handover stages
- Review and advise on quality documents including ITPs, mobilisation plans, MARs, Construction Records, red-line drawings, and handover certificates
- Ensure that construction works are carried out in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), including adherence to hold points, acceptance criteria, and record-keeping requirements
Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain and lead reviews of ITP, NCR, and MCR registers
- Track production of quality records and certificates against programme milestones
- Prepare and submit Quality Record Packages and Completion Certificates.
Inspection & Audits
- Conduct audits, inspections, and surveillance as required
- Support internal and external audits led by BSL or the client.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the central point of contact for all quality-related matters within the delivery team
- Attend client quality meetings and chair internal quality meetings
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance.
Issue Resolution & Improvement
- Advise delivery teams on managing and closing NCRs. Ensure corrective actions are adequate and preventative measures have been put in place to stop recurrence
- Promote good practices and lessons learned across the project
- Support quality improvement initiatives through data analysis and KPI tracking
Digital Tools & Systems
- Use digital platforms to monitor quality performance and manage issues
- Support training and adoption of digital tools for quality governance
The following qualities/ experiences are essential:
- Minimum one-year prior work experience in either quality in construction, marine works or deep foundations engineering industry
- Minimum undergraduate level degree or equivalent in either Quality or Civil Engineering
- Good analytical skills, competent in Excel, Power BI and other statistical analytical software
- Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts
- Can work to plans, programmes and tasks target deadline
- Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion
- Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner
- Has good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work within a multi-discipline team
- Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively
- Can demonstrate initiative and resilience
- Ability to challenge existing methods and ways of thinking
- Fully proficient in modern office computer systems and technology
The following qualities/experiences are desirable:
- Experience in large scale project (i.e Crossrail, Thames Tideway, HS2)
- Either a CQI Practitioner/Member or working towards practitioner/membership status
- Experience of working with accreditation bodies
- Carrying out local audits & managing accreditation audits
Working Environment:
Site Based – Sizewell C, flexible for factory and manufacturing facility visits/audits across the UK (and potentially Europe) in line with the project needs.
