Project Safety Manager

With a strong presence in Western Sydney and multiple live projects, we have a new opportunity for a Project Safety Manager who is interested in joining our growing team in Western Sydney.
About the role:
As Project Safety Manager, you will ensure compliance with our Safety policy and systems as the champion of a positive safety culture. Developing a good rapport with site staff, you will lead by example and set best practice standards.
- Champion SWC initiatives / KPI’s as well as develop and implement additional improvement strategies/initiatives as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with relevant company, government and client legislation, plans, standards and specifications.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and application of legislation, industry standards and technological innovations as relevant to your role.
- Report all relevant information in an accurate and timely manner, as well as develop solutions to relevant issues.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of external certification of the safety management system as requested.
- Assist the Project Manager in the preparation, implementation and maintenance of systems, plans, procedures and strategies.
- Mentor site personnel to improve workplace health and safety.
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills, relationship building, be passionate about the health and safety of people and a team-first approach.
- Minimum Diploma qualification in OHS.
- Minimum of 10 years of civil construction or relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience leading teams or in a management role.
- Auditing qualifications in OHS.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.
- Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator Certification.
- Certification in First Aid.
- Emergency Response Training.
- Working in Confined Spaces and Work at Heights.
- Knowledge of Excavation Safety, Basic Scaffolding, Basic Rigging, Plant Observer / Spotter.
