The Project:

The Mulgoa Road Upgrade Alliance, a collaboration between Transport for NSW, Seymour Whyte, and Turnbull Engineering, focuses on transforming Mulgoa Road in Sydney’s west. Key features include expanding the road to six lanes, enhancing safety with improved access and turning lanes, relocating utilities, constructing a noise wall, and introducing dedicated bus and active transport corridors. The project aims to reduce congestion, improve road safety, support active transport, and future-proof the infrastructure for population growth.

The Role:

As a Project Community Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their support while minimising reputation risks. Your expertise in planning and implementing effective communication strategies will be vital in delivering successful campaigns to support traffic changes, community events, social inclusion and engagement (internal and external) contributing to our overall success and positive social impact.

  • Develop and implement engagement plans, comply with contracts, minimise risks, and gain stakeholder support for projects.
  • Lead a team, strategic communications, manage enquiries, event planning, maintain a consultation database, and ensure timely content delivery.
  • Provide regular reports, evaluate engagement effectiveness as per client needs, and stay compliant with policies.
  • Mentor team, foster professional growth, and facilitate skills development.
  • Contribute to bid/tender content, internal and external communications, stay updated with standards, laws, and tech relevant to the role.

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant experience in a similar role.
  • At least five years’ experience working at project site level in the civil construction industry.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
