JOB DIMENSIONS
The Service Holder will be responsible for all the Steel Lazy Wave Riser design activities and technical matters related to the Venus project, as part of the GPI (‘’Groupe Projet Interne’’) Venus team.
This will include but not be limited to reviewing, approving, preparing and managing all studies and Contractors, Suppliers and Sub-Suppliers documentation related to the Service Holder field of expertise during FEED, Call For Tender and EPCI phases.
The project consists of:
The Service Holder shall also assist the umbilical and flexible specialists in all matter related to the Service Holder field of expertise.
The Service Holder will provide support to the SURF Technical Manager and the SURF team and liaise with other project teams (SPS and FPSO).
ACTIVITIES
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
The activity takes place in the context of the FEED, Call For Tender, and Project Execution Phase of a major very Deep Water greenfield Project in Namibia. The Venus GPI is a multidisciplinary team that coordinates the development studies on the Deep-Water discoveries of offshore Namibia Block 2913B.
The technical challenges the GPI / Project will face are the reservoirs development and management, the subsea production/injection system definition in a challenging environment.
The Venus Project will be developed with the objectives to maximize economical results by optimizing the reserves, the schedule, reducing the costs and the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission, while maintaining the technical quality of the installations, with high H3SE requirements and focus.

JOB DIMENSIONS

This will include but not be limited to reviewing, approving, preparing and managing all studies and Contractors, Suppliers and Sub-Suppliers documentation related to the Service Holder field of expertise during FEED, Call For Tender and EPCI phases.
The project consists of:
- Production system: 2-off rings, 4-off (~25 km) Steel Lazy Wave Risers (SLWR), 6-off (71km) wet insulated rigid flowlines and 4-off rigid spools in CS and CRA lined pipe (WOL/MLP/HRB), as well as 19-off rigid jumpers in Duplex,
- Gas Injection system: 2-off, 2-off SLWR (~12 km), 2-off (35 km) rigid flowlines and 2-off rigid spools in CS and CRA lined pipe (WOL/MLP/HRB), as well as 19-off TCP jumpers
- Control system: 2-off dynamic and18-off static umbilicals, 2-off SDU, 38 XTs and associated FL.
The Service Holder shall also assist the umbilical and flexible specialists in all matter related to the Service Holder field of expertise.
The Service Holder will provide support to the SURF Technical Manager and the SURF team and liaise with other project teams (SPS and FPSO).
ACTIVITIES
- Adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behavior with regards to H3SE&Q, to implement and control H3SE rules and requirements within his area of responsibility. Ensure all flowlines technical documentation and SURF Contractor activities comply with H3SE&Q requirements and highlight any potential deviations. Ensure safe working practices are implemented along all phases of project
- Adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behavior with regards to the Company Ethics and “Code of Conduct” policy, promote and enforce the Anti-Corruption Program within the Project,
- Be responsible for all FEED SLWR engineering activities and manage all FEED contractor technical activities,
- Be responsible for preparation and timely delivery of the SLWRs sub-system (4-off Prod SLWR and 2-off GI SLWR) Call For Tender technical package of the SURF EPCI Contract, considering the impact of other SURF/FPSO sub-systems (Lazy Wave Umbilicals, FPSO mooring lines, future riser development)
- Be responsible for review, fitness for purpose and compliance to Project and Company requirements of SURF Tenderers Technical offers. Lead the technical clarifications with Tenderers and ensure timely closing of technical qualifications. Carry out Tenders technical evaluation and support for preparation of RTA technical part,
- Define, develop, issue and maintain all necessary technical documentation related to the SLWR activities. Support and participate to the development and maintenance of Project Management main documents (SOR, FDP, PEP, PQP, Risks, etc.),
- Ensure follow-up / review / validation of progress performed by Contractor and its Suppliers with regards to his/her disciplines and analyze/report drifts that could occur and propose remedial solutions
- The Service Holder shall proactively provide alternative designs or technical solutions whenever required, accounting for the various constraints of project packages, such as reducing as much as possible the hook-up and in-place loads to minimize SLWR fatigue and the FPSO required pull-in winch capacity, mitigate potential clashes with other SURF items (umbilical and mooring lines), assist the Installation Lead to optimize the SLWR/Umbilicals wet parking configurations and sub-sequent transfer activities to FPSO, assist Umbilical and Flexible Engineers in Orcaflex studies, etc…
- Supervise and control the detailed engineering by timely reviewing the disciplines-related documentation issued by Contractor (technical documentation / queries / derogation requests...), in order to ensure compliance with Project Specifications and Procedures (when applicable), international norms and standards with the objective to ensure respect of the schedule and to optimize costs without impacting required level of Quality and Safety
- Raise consequently necessary comments and highlight unsafe design, deviations, unacceptable / unjustified design choices, constructability issues
- Act, as technical referent vis-à-vis Contractor(s) for SLWR matters, and follow-up the Suppliers providing equipment for the SLWR, e.g.: flexible or titanium stress joint, buoyancy, VIV strakes…
- Ensure technical compliance throughout the Project life of the engineered, procured, fabricated, tested and installed SLWR. Ensure all technical, QA/QC and H3SE project policies and requirements are duly implemented and ensure Contractors’ compliance with contractual requirements in all areas. Anticipate and ensure adequate and timely reporting to the Technical Manager of any concern, issue or potential deviation. Propose timely and adequate solutions and optimizations.
- Ensure that his/her work is in line with riser specialists of Company Headquarters,
- Liaise with other package teams (SPS, FPSO) for interface matters with the support of Interface Managers and leads,
- Organize and participate to Project Reviews,
- Assist and support the Technical Manager and the Subsea Manager on all aspects of the SLWR activities related Call For Tender, Clarification & evaluation process, project execution and contracts management, and with the relations with Partners
- Coordinate with other Team Members including the SURF contract engineer for the follow-up of correspondence and contract activities throughout the full CFT process and during Project Execution
- Participate to the Installation Phase, tests, commissioning and handover, assisting when necessary the Installation Leader during all the offshore work campaigns.
- Gather ‘lessons learnt’ and provide feedback to the company entities as required. Assist in the formalization of the close-out report

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Qualification: Master’s degree in engineering, with specialization in subsea pipeline/risers,
- Experience within project: at least 10 years in large offshore oil & gas SURF deep water projects and experience in SLWR design on an EPCI project with flexible joint and/or titanium stress joint.
- Additional features:
- Good knowledge of relevant codes (DNV), and preferably of general specifications, procedures and policies.
- Previous experience with Major SURF Contractors during project execution for deep water project.
- Positive, constructive, proactive and pragmatic mindset.
- Ability to work within large teams with other parties (Contractors, suppliers, HQ technical teams, etc).
- Previous experience within a complex and multicultural working environment.
