Mechanical Design Engineer
23/07/2025NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is fast growing with hybrid opportunities available up and down the country. We're striving to create a multidisciplinary team to offer our clients the best range of talent.
A vacancy has arisen in the design team for mechanical design engineers to deliver design packages in support of projects. The successful candidate should demonstrate a good working knowledge of MAN 0004 (Engineering), a good understanding of Dounreay design processes as well as a good understanding of design governance and its application.
Responsibilities:
- Control, develop and implement plans and procedures
- Design, evaluate and deliver the technical governance of projects
- Identify resource requirements to prepare for/carry out activities
- Apply health, safety, environmental and waste management processes with engineering activities taking advice where
necessary from appropriate specialists - Undertake the professional management and execution of contract and project works including observation of work to
identify industry standards are applied - Resolve technical queries and develop appropriate solutions for operational problems
- Write technical specifications
- Monitor implementation of plans and procedures to ensure compliance with project schedules, safety procedures and
legislation - Liaise effectively with regulators and stakeholders on specific projects
- Support independent verification and substantiation report
- Ensure designs are compliant with the relevant regulations
- Create design documentation including engineering reports, proposals, specifications, calculations, drawing and reviews
- Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to post.
Qualification and expereince:
- HND in Engineering or equivalent based on Engineering Council Standard for Engineering Technician
- Relevant experience in mechanical engineering
- Good understanding of design governance and both the low risk and full design processes
- Post specific capability analysis assessment.
