National Systems and Controls Manager

23/7/2026

We are looking for a confident, commercially minded National Systems & Controls Manager to lead the ongoing improvement of our business systems, controls, governance and assurance frameworks across the organisation.

This is a national role for someone who understands how complex engineering and construction businesses operate - but knows how to make systems, processes and controls practical, user-friendly and effective. You’ll bring strong corporate experience, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence outcomes across a fast-moving, project-based environment.

We’re looking for someone agile, smart and outcome-focused - a person who can move quickly, cut through complexity and help build systems that support operational excellence, risk management, compliance and better business performance.

The role

Reporting to the General Manager HSEQ, you will lead the development, governance and continuous improvement of Seymour Whyte’s business systems, controls and assurance frameworks. You’ll work closely with corporate and operational teams to improve how we manage systems, documentation, risk, audit, compliance, incident management, corrective actions and business improvement initiatives.

You’ll also lead a small team, providing clear direction, coaching and support while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Leading the continuous improvement of business systems, processes and workflows across Seymour Whyte
  • Driving the optimisation of document control systems, integrated management systems and digital solutions
  • Strengthening governance frameworks, controls, assurance processes and compliance activities
  • Supporting risk management, incident reporting, corrective actions and root cause analysis processes
  • Leading internal audit and assurance programs, and supporting external audits
  • Working with operational teams to improve project controls, reporting, compliance and delivery processes
  • Translating business requirements into practical system and process improvements
  • Leading change initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, communication and user adoption

About you

You’ll be a confident and pragmatic systems leader with strong experience in a corporate environment, ideally within civil engineering, construction, infrastructure or another complex project delivery environment.

You’ll understand that good systems are only valuable if people can use them. You’ll be able to engage stakeholders at all levels, challenge thinking constructively and bring people with you through change.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems or a related discipline
  • Relevant certifications in auditing, quality, risk, project management and/or continuous improvement highly regarded
  • Solid corporate experience managing business systems, governance, controls or integrated management systems
  • Strong knowledge of systems, document control, information security and business process improvement
  • Experience with risk, quality, safety, environmental, audit, compliance or assurance frameworks
  • A practical, outcome-focused approach - with the ability to simplify complexity
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills
  • Confidence influencing senior leaders, operational teams, project teams and corporate functions
  • Experience leading change, improving user adoption and supporting new ways of working
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and insights to support decisions
  • People leadership experience, with the ability to coach, guide and develop a small team
  • Experience in engineering project delivery, project controls or infrastructure environments will be highly regarded
