Project Manager

Job Title: Project Manager – Substations
Reporting to: Business Unit General Manager
Business Unit: GGP

Purpose of the Position

This role focuses on the safe, efficient delivery of work to the highest possible standards, and exceptional delivery of projects to the highest standards of safety and quality within budget and time constraints.

The ideal person for this role will be able to maximise productivity and control costs at all times, while maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders to develop a relationship of trust.

This position reports directly to the Business Unit General Manager.

Responsibilities & Duties

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Total responsibility for driving and delivering all projects assigned to you.

  • Creation and updating of civil and electrical programmes in line with Omexom client requirements.

  • Timely completion of the electrical bill of quantities and receipt of purchase orders prior to mobilisation on site.

  • Ensuring the “sales handover process” is carried out as documented and within an agreed timescale prior to mobilisation.

  • Ensuring purchase orders are raised for new and existing suppliers as and when required.

  • Challenge terms and conditions to reflect “value for money” in conjunction with the Quantity Surveyor and Procurement Department.

  • Actively contribute to and support Health & Safety across all sites to ensure delivery of a world-class safety culture.

    • Includes monthly safety audits, adherence to PESL Project Management Procedures and current H&S legislation.

  • Manage the transition between the civil and electrical phases to maintain safety and eliminate unnecessary costs.

  • Monitor and assist in the collection and reporting of financial data relating to electrical bill of quantities.

  • Promote and monitor approved on-site administration practices.

  • Provide clarity around all claims relating to payment applications to ensure prompt payment.

  • Encourage use of best practices to ensure maximum utilisation of time, materials, and resources.

  • Compile relevant electrical information for inclusion in the station safety file.

  • Positively challenge all processes, systems, and methodology.

  • Encourage staff at all levels to take ownership of their business and contribute to its continuing success.

  • Continue to assist in the updating of the overall work programme and resource schedule.

  • Responsible for resource allocation in conjunction with the Business Unit General Manager.

Delivering KPIs including:

  • Number of safety audits undertaken

  • Product profit margins

  • Operating costs

  • Cash flow

  • Attendance levels

  • Act as a role model for Omexom Company Values.

  • Clients and customers

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

  • A track record of effective project management with the ability to execute critical tasks in real time.

  • Experience of:

    • Meeting targets in a commercial environment

    • Managing budgets

  • The ability to:

    • Plan works in the most efficient manner

    • Manage and motivate staff

    • Put the customer at the centre of decision-making

    • Deliver strong financial performance in a contracting environment

  • A proven understanding of safety and quality and how to manage them.

  • The ability to engage at a specific and detailed level with key tasks, evidenced by those tasks being executed in a highly efficient manner.

  • Personal integrity, resilience, and the robustness needed to operate in a fast-changing, highly commercial contracting environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience at Project Manager level.
