Logistics Manager
8/5/2025The Logistics Manager will lead marine logistics operations at the MBIF, supporting the Sizewell C nuclear power station construction. Responsibilities include coordinating plant and equipment deliveries, managing logistics associated to offloading and storage of materials (steel piles, precast planks and other), and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental standards & project requirements. The role requires strong leadership, sense of coordination and co-activity, marine and land logistics experience, the ability to operate in a high-security, fast-paced infrastructure environment. This is a key position ensuring the smooth, timely, and efficient flow of critical construction materials and equipment for one of the UK’s most significant energy projects.
Key Tasks & Responsibillities
- Develop and implement site-specific logistics and traffic management plans in line with project and client requirements.
- Ensure safe and efficient movement of materials, plant, and equipment to and from the workface, minimizing disruption and risk.
- Manage site access/egress, laydown areas, offloading points, and internal logistics routes.
- Lead daily logistics meetings with the supply chain and coordinate with operational teams to align logistics with project phases.
- Maintain open and proactive communication with the Client regarding logistics planning, constraints, and coordination.
- Represent logistics in site meetings and ensure Client requirements are fully understood and integrated into planning.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety policies, lifting procedures, and vehicle standards.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of all site movements, deliveries, waste removals, and access logs.
- Ensure all logistical documentation (e.g., delivery notes, permits, lifting plans, risk assessments) is complete, accurate, and auditable.
- Use logistics planning tools (e.g., Aphex or similar) to anticipate clashes, optimize delivery schedules, and support project reporting.
- Evaluate and manage logistics suppliers and delivery booking systems, ensuring accountability and performance tracking.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with logistics procedures and standards.
- Communicate and escalate key logistical risks or issues to project leadership to prevent delays or safety breaches.
- Support the management and coordination of logistics operatives, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and monitored.
- Prioritize and document logistical needs of the project, ensuring transparency and traceability across the supply chain.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of logistics operations, port interface management, and the coordination of plant and equipment deliveries by road. Experience in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects is essential, along with a solid understanding of HSE regulations and logistics software. Candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience managing complex logistics operations and leading teams in high-pressure environments. A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is required. Professional certifications (e.g., CILT, NEBOSH) and a valid UK driving licence are desirable. Security clearance eligibility for nuclear infrastructure is essential.
This is a full-time, office-based role located at either the Sizewell C construction site or the Ipswich Orwell Logistics Park, depending on operational needs, ideally living locally to the project. The position involves working in a structured office environment with regular interaction and close coordination with the client, CWA, and other project stakeholders. While primarily office-based, the role may require occasional site visits and flexibility to support operational demands. The successful candidate must be available for potential extended hours, including occasional Saturdays, to meet project requirements and deadlines.
