IT Project Manager
9/5/2025To take full ownership of the project management process within the IT function, managing a portfolio of projects for our supported businesses as well as internal IT initiatives. The IT Project Manager will ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to high quality standards, while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders and driving delivery in collaboration with technical leads.
The IT Project Manager will also have full ownership of a suite of regular and recurring internal run activities, and will be responsible for managing hardware and software vulnerabilities, and core application and OS compliance.
Position in the Organisation
· Reports directly to the IT Operations Manager.
· Works closely with technical leads assigned to individual projects.
· Interfaces regularly with client representatives, internal departments, and Senior management.
· Responsibility for maintaining and enhancing project management standards.
Experience:
Essential:
· Proven track record in delivering IT projects on time and within budget.
· Experience working with technical teams and leading multi-disciplinary project workstreams.
· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including reporting at senior levels.
· Demonstrable ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Desirable:
· Background in managing infrastructure, cloud migration, software deployment projects, or office set up/relocation/closure projects.
· Previous experience in a role with sole responsibility for project management processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· End-to-end management of multiple concurrent IT projects — from planning to delivery.
· Coordination of client-facing technology projects across the UK and Northern Europe, as well as internal IT change initiatives.
· Responsibility for project governance, risk management, budgeting, and reporting.
· Development and continuous improvement of project management processes and tools.
· Leadership in driving teams to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes.
· Supporting the IT Operations Manager in managing change, maintenance, and service improvement activities across the business.
· Responsibility for run activities, including but not limited to vulnerability management, core app maintenance, and OS compliance.
· Engage and collaborate with Project Managers globally on Strategic Global initiatives.
Dimensions and Limits of Authority:
· Decision-making: Authority to make day-to-day project decisions within agreed budgets and timelines.
· Budget management: Responsible for tracking and controlling project budgets as approved by the IT Operations Manager.
· Process ownership: Authority to define and enforce project management standards and methodologies within the IT team.
· Escalation: Issues outside scope, budget overruns, or significant project changes to be escalated to the IT Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
Essential:
· GCSE passes in English, Mathematics, and science.
· Strong understanding of project management lifecycles, methodologies, and tools (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
Desirable:
· Additional technical certifications (e.g. ITIL, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar).
· Recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or AgilePM).
