Project HSEQ Manager

We are mobilising for a major iconic project in Perth that involves engineering design, earthworks, roadworks, buildings, and services.
As the Project Safety Manager, you will be a key member of our team, playing a vital role in managing and minimising safety risks on site to support the successful delivery of our projects. You'll champion a strong safety culture, drive compliance with Seymour Whyte’s safety policies and systems, and set the standard for best practice every day. ABOUT THE ROLE:
• Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to all Seymour Whyte policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
• Safety Leadership & Culture: Champion safety initiatives and KPIs, lead cultural improvements on site, and mentor personnel to strengthen workplace health and safety practices.
• Risk Management & Continuous Improvement: Identify safety risks and opportunities, support the development and implementation of improvement strategies, and contribute to maintaining external safety certifications.
• Monitoring, Reporting & Investigation: Conduct site inspections and audits, investigate incidents, provide recommendations and corrective actions, and share lessons learned across the business.
• Stakeholder Support & Injury Management: Advise Project Managers on safety matters, liaise with internal stakeholders, and manage Injury Rehabilitation and Return to Work processes on projects.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Diploma in OHS (minimum), with additional certifications in areas such as ICAM, Workplace Rehabilitation, First Aid, Confined Space, Work at Heights, and Internal Auditing. Auditing qualifications and Traffic Management Levels 2–4 are also desirable.
• At least 10 years of experience in civil construction or a related industry, with a proven understanding and application of core safety principles and risk management practices.
• Previous experience in a management or team leadership role, supported by a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training, with the ability to mentor and lead safety culture on site.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and knowledgeable in safety systems, auditing processes, and emergency response protocols.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a team-first mindset, able to engage effectively with all levels of site and project personnel, clients, and auditors.
