Job Summary

Omexom is a brand through which VINCI Energies undertakes its Transmission & Distribution activities. Omexom specialises in the design, supply, installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical infrastructures for a varied range of electricity utility companies and renewable energy developers throughout the UK and Ireland.

Role Overview

Based in our Scotland office, the primary purpose of this role is to assist in the design, procurement, installation, construction, and commissioning of distribution overhead line networks. After gaining experience and completing a structured training programme, the successful candidate will progress into a Project Management role.

The postholder will work closely with project managers, designers, commercial staff, and operational teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the substation industry and related construction projects.

Over a two-year period, a structured training programme will be provided via both external providers and the VINCI Energies UK Academy. The programme will cover areas such as project management, technical skills, people management, financial and procurement management, HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality), business development, and commercial and contractual awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the safe and efficient delivery of works to the highest construction standards.

  • Supporting the delivery of projects and programmes to ensure they meet safety, quality, budget, and time targets.

  • Contributing to the commercial success of projects.

  • Assisting in managing and optimising the performance of operational staff.

  • Supporting tendering processes and bid management.

  • Ensuring effective communication with customers.

  • Assisting Project Managers in budget management and cost control, including the timely delivery of financial data and progress reports.

  • Preparing project progress reports for review with customers.

  • Supporting HR-related issues at the site level, including disciplinary matters when required.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications

Essential:

  • A third-level qualification in a relevant technical or engineering-related discipline.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and/or MS Project.

  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Commercially focused self-starter with motivation and initiative.

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

  • Basic understanding of financial management.

  • Ability to logically plan works and motivate teams and subcontractors.

  • Customer-focused approach to decision-making.

  • Ability to meet targets and work under pressure to tight deadlines.

  • Full driving licence and access to transport to meet the job requirements.

  • Eagerness to develop within the Project Management field and take on increasing responsibilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

General

This is a flexible role requiring frequent travel to sites and attendance at project progress meetings throughout Ireland and Great Britain.
