Job Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled SCMS Engineer to support the implementation of Substation Control and Monitoring Systems for a 400kV substation EPC project in Saudi Arabia. This position is ideal for a Saudi National with a background in electrical engineering, control systems, or industrial automation, and a keen interest in substation automation technologies. The role requires on-site presence during the construction phase, with assignments in remote and isolated project locations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Nationality: Saudi (mandatory)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or Automation
  • Specialization in Substation Automation, SCADA, or IEC 61850 is highly desirable
    • Language: Proficiency in Arabic and English
    • Mobility: Willingness to work in remote site locations for extended periods during construction

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in the design review, configuration, and testing of SCMS components including:
    • Bay Control Units (BCUs)
    • Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • SCADA interfaces
      • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs)
      • Coordinate with vendors, system integrators, and construction teams to ensure proper installation and commissioning of control systems
      • Monitor and troubleshoot data acquisition, event logging, and alarm systems during commissioning
      • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, test results, and system performance
      • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and data integrity protocols for substation automation

      Skills & Competencies

      • Familiarity with substation automation architectures and SCADA systems
      • Basic knowledge of communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, etc.)
      • Understanding of electrical protection schemes and their interface with control systems
      • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
      • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
      • Adaptability to remote site environments and hands-on field work
