The Role - SHEQ Advisor (Part Time)

We are seeking a motivated and experienced SHEQ Advisor to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week).

Working closely with project teams, control systems engineers, panel build workshop personnel, and the central SHEQ function, you will support the delivery of robust QSHE standards across office, workshop, and site-based activities.

You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle—from panel manufacture and factory acceptance testing (FAT), through to installation, commissioning, and site support—ensuring consistent application of SHEQ principles in both controlled environments and live industrial settings.

This is a hands-on role, requiring a pragmatic, proactive approach and the ability to work alongside engineers to embed safe and compliant ways of working without impacting delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and challenge risk assessments and RAMS (internal & contractors)

  • Conduct inspections in panel build areas, offices, and project sites

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and site safety standards

  • Lead incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are embedded

  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and SHEQ inductions

  • Support safety culture development, engagement initiatives, and communications

  • Ensure compliance with key controls (e.g. LOTO, COSHH, PPE, fire safety)

Quality

  • Support the delivery and maintenance of a Quality Management System aligned to ISO 9001 and drive towards certification

  • Promote right-first-time quality in panel build, testing, and delivery

  • Conduct internal audits across workshop, office, and projects

  • Manage non-conformances, corrective and preventative actions, and customer feedback

  • Ensure document control of procedures, drawings, and specifications

  • Support continuous improvement and project review processes

Environment

  • Support environmental compliance across workshop and site activities

  • Monitor waste, energy usage, and environmental KPIs

  • Ensure correct handling and disposal of electrical and hazardous waste

  • Promote practical sustainability initiatives

This role is primarily based at a single site in Peterborough, combining office-based work with support to a live panel build workshop, alongside occasional visits to customer sites in the UK and overseas.

You will work across:

  • Panel assembly and factory testing environments

  • Installation and commissioning activities on industrial sites

  • Multidisciplinary engineering teams and subcontractors

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to engage and influence engineers and technical teams in a pragmatic, practical way
