We are seeking a vigilant and proactive HSE Engineer / Supervisor to oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance on a 400kV substation EPC project in UAE.
This position is ideal for an engineer with a background in occupational safety, engineering, or environmental management, and a strong commitment to promoting a safe and compliant work environment.
The role requires full-time on-site presence during the construction phase, with assignments in remote and isolated project locations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
Certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or IOSH are highly preferred
- Experience: 2–5 years in HSE roles within construction or industrial projects
- Language: Proficiency in English
- Mobility: Willingness to work in remote site locations for extended periods during construction
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the project-specific HSE plan in alignment with client and regulatory requirements
- Conduct daily site inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks to ensure safe work practices
- Supervise compliance with permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout procedures, and confined space protocols
- Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, recommending corrective actions
- Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, and site management to enforce safety standards
- Maintain accurate records of HSE audits, training sessions, and incident logs
- Ensure proper use of PPE, emergency equipment, and first aid resources
- Promote a culture of safety awareness, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of UAE labor laws, and environmental compliance
- Familiarity with electrical substation hazards (work in live substation), heavy equipment safety, and construction site protocols
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and make quick, informed decisions in field conditions
- Resilience and adaptability to remote site environments
- Commitment to zero-incident culture and proactive risk management
