Network Supervisor

Position summary
We are seeking a proactive and safety-focused Network Supervisor to lead the planning, deployment, operation, and maintenance of network infrastructure across projects and sites. The role includes supervision of small technical teams, coordination with project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards, and driving continual improvement in network availability and performance.
Key responsibilities
Team supervision : Lead, mentor, and coordinate network technicians and contractors; assign tasks, monitor performance, and support skill development to ensure safe and efficient delivery of network works.
Network operations : Oversee day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, wireless, and data centre network infrastructure to meet availability and performance targets.
Installation & commissioning : Supervise installation, configuration, and commissioning of switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, cabling, and network appliances according to design and standards.
Troubleshooting & incident response : Lead fault diagnosis and resolution for network outages and performance issues; coordinate escalations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to minimise downtime.
Change & configuration management : Ensure changes to network infrastructure follow approval processes, are documented, and are implemented with appropriate backout plans; maintain accurate configuration records and as-built documentation.
Security & compliance : Implement and enforce network security best practices, access controls, and patching; ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and relevant standards.
Stakeholder collaboration : Liaise with project managers, engineers, HSSE, telecoms teams, vendors, and clients to align network activities with project schedules and operational needs.
Asset & inventory management : Maintain network asset registers, spare parts inventory, and assist with procurement to support reliable operations and timely maintenance.
Reporting & continuous improvement : Produce operational reports, track network KPIs, recommend improvements to network design, monitoring, and maintenance practices, and support lessons-learned activities.
Training & competence : Support the development of technical competence within the team through on-the-job coaching, training sessions, and monitoring of certifications and competence records.
Required qualifications & skills
Diploma or technical certificate in networking, IT, telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven experience supervising network installation, operation, and maintenance in industrial, commercial, or project environments.
Hands-on technical knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching, VLANs, VPNs, wireless LAN, and network security fundamentals.
Experience with network monitoring, configuration management, and common tools (e.g., SNMP, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS, network management platforms).
Familiarity with cabling standards and practices (fiber and copper), testing procedures, and basic data centre infrastructure.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise work across multiple sites and tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English; ability to work effectively with diverse teams and external suppliers.
Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as required; valid driver’s licence preferred.
Desirable qualifications
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, or vendor-specific qualifications.
Experience with industrial networking (ICS/SCADA communications), firewalls, SD-WAN, or cloud networking.
Previous supervisory experience and familiarity with competence management systems or LMS platforms.
