Design Manager
30/6/2026We are seeking an experienced Design Manager with a strong background in water infrastructure to lead major water and wastewater infrastructure D&C projects. You will manage design teams, drive alignment across project stakeholders and ensure designs meet technical, commercial and client requirements. This role will see you own design management plans, oversee HSEQ compliance and act as the key link between construction and design teams.
You will bring proven experience across water projects such as treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations or wastewater facilities, along with a collaborative and solutions focused approach. You will support bids, manage consultants and build strong client relationships, while driving innovation, managing risk and ensuring high quality, compliant design outcomes.

About the Role:
- Develop, communicate, and adhere to project Design Management Plans, ensuring all team members, suppliers, and subcontractors are aligned
- Select, manage, and support project design team members (consultants), setting clear expectations and driving performance improvements as needed
- Lead the bid management process, ensuring design deliverables are completed on time and providing feedback to estimators, construction personnel, and planners
- Act as the key communication link between construction teams and designers, promptly communicating changes in scope, design, or methodology
- Champion innovation and value engineering across all design and bid projects, maintaining a risk register and facilitating risk reviews with designers
- Liaise with client representatives to understand and manage expectations, ensuring the project meets all technical and performance requirements and that design briefs are fully interpreted and delivered
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience managing design for water infrastructure projects, such as treatment plants, wastewater facilities, pipelines, and pump stations etc
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring technical and performance requirements are met for water sector projects
- Strong understanding of regulatory, environmental, and industry standards relevant to water infrastructure design and delivery
- Track record of driving innovation and value engineering to optimise outcomes in water-related projects
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience liaising with clients, authorities, and internal teams
