About the Role
As a Principle Hardware Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality industrial control panels and systems across diverse projects—primarily within the food and beverage sector. Your work will drive tangible improvements for leading UK and international clients.
Key Responsibilities
Design industrial control panels, MCCs, and automation hardware to meet customer specifications and safety standards (IEC, UL, BS EN).
Create detailed schematics, block diagrams, general arrangements, and wiring schedules.
Produce accurate documentation, including equipment lists, cable schedules, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure seamless delivery.
Support procurement and resolve technical queries during assembly, installation, and commissioning.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Engage professionally with clients, suppliers, and colleagues to deliver solutions-focused outcomes.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in designing industrial control panels, MCCs, or automated hardware assemblies.
Proficiency with CAD packages and electrical schematic design.
Strong knowledge of industry standards (BS EN 61439, IEC 60204, UL508A) and safe electrical practices.
Familiarity with PLCs, relays, safety devices, VSDs, HMIs, and related components.
Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree) or equivalent experience.
Excellent communication and organisational skills with a collaborative mindset.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Experience in the food and beverage sector is advantageous.
