Site lifting Supervisor

Job Title : Site Lifting Supervisor
Sector: Oil & Gas
Location: Paramaribo, Suriname
Start Date: April 2026
Contract Duration: 12–24 months (renewable)
Work Scheme: rotational 6/2 (6 weeks on/2 weeks off), based on six (6) worked days per week, with eight (8) hours of work per day
Language: English (fluent)

Mission Context
The client seeks technical assistance services for a Site Lifting Supervisor to support daily lifting and handling operations across shorebase, yards, berths, and other company locations. The role provides the onsite expertise needed to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient lifting operations in line with HSE standards and international lifting requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily supervision and technical oversight of all lifting and handling activities on site, including lift categorization, hazard identification, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and post‑job debriefs
  • Reviewing and approving complex lift plans and attending critical lifts
  • Inspecting and validating lifting appliances, rigging gear, forklifts, cranes, CCUs, and equipment condition/fitness for purpose
  • Ensuring compliance with HSE policy (CR EP LSO 043), international lifting standards, and safety practices
  • Conducting road transportation safety spot checks and ensuring adherence to referential requirements
  • Reporting unsafe acts/conditions, tracking KPIs, and providing regular operational and HSE reporting
  • Supporting audits, reviewing lifting procedures, maintaining up‑to‑date lifting documentation, and re‑issuing generic lift plans as needed
  • Assessing personnel competence, providing coaching/mentoring, and contributing to training plans for lifting operations staff
  • Advising Logistics Operations on safety best practices, preparing JSAs, conducting inspections, and supporting internal/3rd-party audits

Specific Activities
Road Transportation:
• Conduct random inspection of Affiliate Road Transportation contractor to ensure compliance with Safety of Road Transport operations between yards and berths
Reporting:
• Ensure reporting of all unsafe work conditions and unsafe work practices and correct immediately 
• Track and submit Shorebase & Associated Yards HSE KPI to Affiliate HQ HSE
 Audits / Methods:
 • Assess handling & lifting organization in the affiliate
 • Conduct annual reviews in handling and lifting
• Participate in all handling and lifting audits in affiliate
• Periodically review and re-issue generic lift plans
• Develop and maintain up to date subsidiary’s handling and lifting procedures/instructions and ensure they are well understood and applied
Budget/Costs:
• Review current system and standard of equipment’s maintenance with regards to cost effectiveness
Management:
• Assess competences and provide proposal of improvement for personnel involved in handling and lifting operations
• Participate in the development of training plan for users up to required competence
• Ensure coaching and mentoring for personnel involved in handling and lifting operations on site

HSE Responsibilities

  • Advise Logistics Operations on recommended best practices regarding general workplace safety, health, environmental compliance, including COVID 19 protocols.
  • Report HIPO, and incidents to HQ
  • Advise, when possible, on Security Concerns
  • Conduct daily inspections of Docks, work sites and conducts internal & 3rd-party audits when directed
  • Prepare and Facilitate JSA(s)/Pre-Job Hazard Analysis with 3rd Party Vendors/Contractors as required

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 10 years’ experience Project and Operation Lifting
  • Knowledge in handling & lifting appliance & operations
  • Working profile: Rigger/Rigger Foreman/Rigging Supervisor/Lifting Supervisor/Lifting Superintendent
  • Working to international standards: BS, LOLER, OPITO
  • 5 years’ experience in offshore operations oil & gas industry with heavy lifts (Subsea, Drilling…)
  • Experience in training and coaching
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Qualifications: LEEA / EAL / CPA / OPITO
