Senior Civil Estimator

We are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to join our South Australian team and lead a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure tenders. You will take ownership of the end-to-end tender process, from first-principle estimating and cost analysis to exploring innovative construction solutions that enhance bid competitiveness. This role involves managing risks, presenting well-structured tenders, ensuring smooth handovers to project teams, and mentoring junior estimators. Collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders, you’ll help deliver accurate, timely submissions while making a real impact on the future of Australian infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tender Leadership: Take charge of preparing detailed, accurate tenders for complex civil projects, including first-principle estimating, quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and project programming. You will drive the end-to-end tendering process, ensuring submissions are both competitive and robust.
- Comprehensive Estimating: Analyse tender documentation in depth, evaluate alternative construction methodologies, and deliver innovative solutions that strengthen bid competitiveness. Keep meticulous records of all calculations, correspondence, and methodologies to support transparency and accuracy.
- Risk & Cost Management: Proactively identify and assess project risks and opportunities, integrating insights into risk management tools such as Risk spreadsheets. Present well-structured tenders at review meetings, clearly highlighting key considerations and mitigation strategies.
- Seamless Handover: Ensure successful tenders transition smoothly to Project Managers, providing thorough documentation and support. Collaborate closely with project teams at contract commencement to assist with financial administration and allocation of the Bill of Quantities.
- Team Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor and guide junior Estimators and Engineering Assistants, fostering a high-performance, collaborative team environment. Work alongside internal stakeholders, including surveyors, planners, and procurement specialists, to leverage expertise and enhance tender accuracy.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil engineering or similar related qualifications.
- Experience using Expert Estimation preferred - training available.
- Civil infrastructure estimating experience.
- Demonstrated history of first principles estimating.
- Ideally have had 10+ years delivering Infrastructure projects.
- Comfortable presenting to senior leaders within the business.
- Current C-Class Driver’s License - preferred.
