Health Physics Trainee

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our Core Health Physics Team as Trainee Health Physics Monitors, supporting EDF’s nuclear fleet across the UK.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the UK’s nuclear power industry, supporting outages, projects, and day-to-day operations. You will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of nuclear safety, radiological protection, and compliance.
As part of our team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in radiation monitoring, contamination control, and supporting the safe delivery of work in nuclear environments. Full training and mentoring will be provided, leading to recognised qualifications and long-term career opportunities within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Carrying out radiation and contamination monitoring to protect workers and the public.
• Supporting operational teams during plant outages, maintenance, and project work.
• Assisting with the implementation of radiological safety controls and procedures.
• Recording, reporting, and escalating monitoring results in line with safety requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of safety awareness and personal conduct at all times.
• Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement in nuclear safety.
What We’re Looking For
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Willingness to travel and work at multiple UK nuclear power stations.
• Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends during outages.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of science, engineering, or health & safety is desirable, but not essential – full training provided.
